HDR test
Does my screen support HDR?
Look at the two blocks. On an HDR screen, the right half of each one is clearly brighter than the left.
Is the right half of each block brighter?
How it works
A web page tops out at standard white. HDR screens keep extra brightness in reserve for highlights, and only HDR files can use it. The left half of each block is plain page white. The right half is an HDR file asking for the brightest white your screen can make, in the same formats xhdr exports.
When the screen, its settings and the browser all support HDR, the right half shines past the left. When one of them doesn't, the HDR file is drawn as standard white and the halves match.
If the halves match
- Mac: Liquid Retina XDR screens show it best. Turn off Low Power Mode, and use Chrome or Safari.
- Windows: on an HDR monitor, turn on Settings, System, Display, Use HDR. Use Chrome or Edge.
- iPhone and iPad: turn off Low Power Mode.
- Android: use Chrome.
Files you make on xhdr are HDR either way. They glow for anyone viewing on an HDR screen.
